After more than 45 years of practice,
Dennis retired as an attorney
from BSK on January 1, 2014. Prior to his retirement, Dennis joined the firm in 2004 and became a shareholder in 2006. He had counseled families and business owners on estate and business planning matters for 45 years. He committed his practice to estate planning and administration for many individuals, families, and business owners during most of his legal career.
He graduated from Arizona State
University with a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Finance, and received his J.D.
degree from the University of Arizona.
Dennis is deeply rooted in both Arizona legal and broader based community organizations. He served as a law clerk for the Arizona Court of Appeals, and as an assistant attorney general for the State of Arizona. He had been a member of Scottsdale Estate Planners for over 30 years; a member of the Scottsdale Bar Association; served on their Board from 1977 to 1984, and was president from 1982 to 1983. He was also a member of the American Bar Association, Real Property & Probate and Trust Law Section, and a member of the State Bar of Arizona Probate and Trust Law Section. He also served as a member of the State Bar of Arizona Estate and Trust Law Advisory Commission for Estates and Trust Specialty Certification from 1998 to 2004. He has been admitted to Arizona and U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, since 1968; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit since 1971; U.S. Supreme Court since 1982; and U.S. Court of Federal Claims since 1990.
Dennis has an AV Preeminent rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell for 25 consecutive years. He also was a Certified Estate and Trust Law Specialist with the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization and is listed in the Best Lawyers of America, Trusts & Estates, and Southwest Super Lawyers, Estate Planning and Probate.
Dennis was born in Spokane, Washington but has been an Arizona resident since 1954. He has lived in Scottsdale since 1972. He and his wife have two grown children and four grandchildren. Dennis enjoys hiking, fly-fishing, sailing, reading, traveling, collecting antiques, and spending time with his dog, Molly.
